- PC-1 “Commercialized production of off-season vegetables” cost 35.00 million submitted to P&D. Off-season vegetable production at suitable locations will be promoted on commercial scale by demonstration and providing quality seed at subsidized rates and facilitation and marketing the produce.
- One development project “Promotion & Cultivation of vegetables around the townships of AJ&K” costing Rs. 14.017 million is being implemented.
- Another PC-1 for promotion of seasonal vegetables through out the State on UC level is being prepared. Estimated cost would be Rs. 30.000 million (Demonstration Plots in public sector & commercialization through private sector).
- Establishment of Demonstrational at Tehsil level.
- Pilot initiative for production of flower bulbs & cut flowers is under process with the financial assistance of Pakistan Horticulture Development & Export Board (PHDEB). Estimated cost Rs. 14.250 million.
- A new development project will be prepared to promote floriculture nurseries, flowers beds, beautification of roads and AJ&K entry points and cut flower, bulbs & tulips production both in public & private sector. Estimated cost Rs. 40.500 million.
- Demonstrational Mushroom growth rooms will be established with each agriculture office up to tehsil level by imparting necessary training and provision of Spawn Estimated cost: 15.000 million.
- On going apiculture activities will be further strengthened by providing bee colonies & training to the communities & marketing facilitation with value addition activities. Estimated cost Rs. 20.450 million.
- A research facility will be established to test the successfulness for domestication of available medicinal herbs, in collaboration of University Collage of Agriculture, AJ&K University. A national level Herbarium will also be established as part of this project. Estimated cost: 35.500 million in
- Initially10 orchards/vegetable farms will be established in each tehsil/UC level by introducing improved organic cultural practices. DOA will facilitate the farmers with subsidies planting materials and other inputs. Estimated Cost Rs. 19.000 million.
- Market Linkages will be developed for sale/export of organic produce as part of the above project.
- Establishment of 10 orchards/Vegetable farms at Tehsil/UC level in private sector by providing Agriculture inputs. Estimated Cost: 71.000 million.
- A development project will be prepared to meet the cost of transportation of inputs from factory to the village to ensure supply of fertilizer, pesticides and seed to the farmers at fair price. Estimated cost Rs. 56.000 million.
- Establishment of training centers at tehsil level is under way through agribusiness project. Training shall be imparted through ESMA. Cost Rs. 6.5 million.
- Seed Act has already been enacted & being enforced.
- The DOA has a productive Liaison with FSC&RD for certification of all planting material both in public & private sector.
- Establishment of 03 Germ-Plasm Units has been proposed as “Fruit Development Component for indigents & improved fruit plants”. Cost Rs.398.000 million (Note: Above mention activity is part of development project named “Transforming wild native fruit flora into quality fruit bearing plants and planting high yielding quality exotic varieties including Olive, Fig Pomegranate etc” already cleared by AKDWP and submitted of AJ&KCDC).
- An IPM project costing Rs. 37.136 million has been approved and launched.
- In this project 200 machines and pheromone traps will be provided along with training and insect pest scouting and monitoring techniques.
- This project will be revised to enhance the scope and targets to provide 2300 No. spray machines, pesticides and training to the farmers.
- Soil Lab Muzaffarabad has been damaged in EQ for Reconstruction case has been submitted to DRU.
- One soil and water testing laboratory has already been established at Kotli under Agriculture Sector Program Loan-II (ASPL-II) project while another is being established at Rawalakot.
- One Lab is being established at Mirpur under AJ&KCDP.
- A new development project for establishing labs in the remaining districts has been prepared costing Rs. 36.000 million.
- Suitable areas and locations in 5-10 different villages in each tehsil will be identified for certified maize, potato and vegetables seed production in public/ private sector & will be linked with the market. (Basic seeds and inputs will be provided to farmers on subsidies rates) Estimated Cost: 36.000 million.
- Presently an ASPL-II assisted project on “Commercialization of walnut, cherry & honey bee” for northern upland areas is under way. Cost Rs. 38.135 million (On going project for Leepa and Neelum).
- Two Fruit, vegetable & meat markets at Arja /Bhimber supplemented with Cold Storages facilities and one cold storage at Mirpur will be established through Agribusiness Project costing Rs. 48.000 million.
- Similar markets will be established in other districts through PSDP projects. Estimated cost Rs. 200 million.
- A culture of value addition to the products by introducing post harvest technologies & improved packing materials will be promoted in public-private partnership through Agribusiness Support Found (ASF) (as part of Agribusiness project).
- A set of one tractor, thresher, front & rear blade & cultivator for 18 tehsil have already been purchased through ongoing ASPL-II project.
- Three large and seven small tractors of 26 Horse Power is being purchased under AJ&K CDP.
- Development project for strengthening the farm mechanization unit is being prepared. More dozers and tractors will be purchased to facilitate mechanized farming. Also, 100 small tractors for northern districts and their implements will be made available in public sector. In southern part 25 tractors and their implements will also be purchased. In addition to this loans from commercial banks will be arranged and payment of the interest will be born by the government. Estimated Project Cost Rs. 198.234 million.
